Domani Studios // Concepting + Art Direction + Design // Paul Sr. and Team OCC approached us to create a site redesign less focused on e-commerce and more submerged in chopper culture. They wanted to be portrayed as a legitimate chopper brand, while promoting their new television series as a secondary element. In exchange for a new site, we received our very own, customized Domani Studios chopper and were featured in the first episode of the new series! This was an awesome project to work on, and OCC was an amazing client to work with.
Domani Studios // Art Direction + Design // I had the great pleasure of working with Tad Hills, the author of the New York Times Bestselling children's book How Rocket Learned to Read, to transform the book into a fun and interactive iPad app. The book is about a dog named Rocket who is learning to read, and actually helps kids learn to read and spell through his journey. Playful animations and interactive games utilize the full spectrum of iPad capabilities, such as tapping Rocket to make him jump and wag his tale, blowing on the screen to make leaves fall off a tree, tilting the iPad to make the bird move, and using a finger to write words in snow.
Domani Studios // Concepting + Art Direction + Design // We teamed up with Pereira & O'Dell to create a new online presence for the California-based CODA all-electric car. This was a fun collaboration that resulted in a truly unique and beautifully graphic automotive site, featuring a blog-style layout, fresh info graphics, and an innovatively transparent perspective on what it means to drive green.
CODA Automotive was named CommArts Webpick of the Week!
St. Regis Polo – site design
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design + Photo-compositing & retouching // Polo is the oldest recorded team sport in history, dating back to Persia over 2500 years ago. St. Regis Hotel's and Polo's history together goes back to the early 1900's. With the return of the sport to Governor's Island in New York City, St. Regis wanted to highlight the history of the sport and its prevalence in American and international politics. I used to play polo in college and so was excited for the opportunity to not only work with the elegant St. Regis brand, but to also delve into the history and photography of the sport.
Westin Guestroom Microsite – site design
Domani Studios // Art Direction + Design + Photo-compositing & retouching // To help Westin show off their newest room designs to investors, we created this site to allow visitors to take tours of each room and click on hotspots to learn more about room features. We really wanted to enhance the rooms, so we minimized the global navigation to be an elegant and clean solution along the bottom, allowing the tours and photos to be large and uninhibited by overpowering borders and type.
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design + Photo-compositing // The FVA, or “Favourite Visitor Awards” is a celebration of The FWA's (Favorite Website Awards)milestone of 50 million visitors. We decided that the best way to celebrate the visitors was to, well, celebrate the visitors. For a couple of weeks our site takeover was launched when users visited The FWA, and those who stayed long were entertained by a snarky gameshow-type host who applauded them for helping to make the site what it is. Users were encouraged to upload their own photos to the Wall of Fame via Facebook Connect.
St. Regis Aficionado
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design + Photo selection and re-touching // St. Regis is a high-end hotel brand that makes providing luxurious experiences to its guests a priority. I always enjoy working with them because of the quality and importance of their photography.
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design // Allstate and the U.S. Olympic committee teamed up to create this online competition for children to support Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics. An Olympic-themed park was being constructed in Chicago's Jesse Owens Park, and through this competition children had the opportunity to influence the actual park's design. Through this site, kids built their playground by selecting a playground shape, selecting and customizing individual playground pieces, selecting a color theme, naming it, and finally submitting it. The playground with the highest votes (submitted by other kids) won and was used to help design the park.
This was one of those rare projects where no pre-existing brand guidelines existed, so we had a lot of fun creating this site. BIG THANK YOU to Alex Eben, who was the illustrator that helped bring this playful world to life.
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design + Photo-compositing // We were approached by the city of Chicago and the Museum of Science and Industry to create a website to support a program called Science Chicago, which was created to help raise awareness of science and engineering in the surrounding communities. This year-long initiative is about encouraging children to explore and learn, so we wanted to create a site that is accessible and fun for kids, parents, and teachers.
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design // We had fun coming up with different concepts for this site redesign. With a brand that sells the products that Korg does, we went all out with various music and tech styles, experimenting with color, layout, and image treatments. The result is an edgy and contemporary e-commerce experience.
BELOW ARE SOME CONCEPT DESIGNS THAT INSPIRED THE FINAL DESIGN.
The Golden Compass
Domani Studios // Concepting + Design + Photo-compositing // I was responsible for designing two MySpace skins based on the main characters of the New Line Cinema film, The Golden Compass. To help users select a theme, a widget was also created in the style of the movie's existing promotional site.
THE BELOW JPEGS SHOW THE WIDGET FUNCTIONALITY.
